To make Heartland Health and our service area the best and safest place in America to receive health care and live a healthy and productive life.
We see our vision as having three different actions that we show as an iceberg. The iceberg has a tip that is above the surface where it is at its narrowest, the middle and the base are the largest parts and are under the surface.

Tip of the Iceberg - Delivering the Best and Safest Care The tip of the iceberg represents the diseases and conditions that people die from every day. At Heartland Regional Medical Center and Heartland Clinic, we see and treat these conditions and diseases to help increase our community's length and quality of life by delivering the best and safest care.

Middle of the Iceberg - Improving Individual Health The middle of the iceberg represents the human behaviors that lead to the diseases and conditions in the tip of the iceberg. To help our community grow healthier, we have several Health Improvement (HI) events throughout the year. These events include the Pound Plunge, Parkway Run/Walk, Heart Walk, Women's Wellness Initiative, Diabetes Expo, 4th Grade Challenge, Beautiful Bones: Osteoporosis, and Speaking of Spine Care. Community Health Improvement Solutions partners with area businesses to help our regional workforce become healthier and more productive through wellness activities, occupational medicine and health insurance.

Base of the Iceberg - Improving Community Health The base of the iceberg represents the root causes of human behavior, those factors that contribute to the behaviors in the middle of the iceberg. For example, if a woman has a poor diet and uses tobacco and alcohol (the middle of the iceberg), the root causes of those behaviors could be that she is under a lot of stress, feels empty or lonely, and has been affected by the economy (the base of the iceberg). Basically, how we feel, our environment and circumstances drives our behaviors. The Heartland Foundation has partnerships and resources to help empower people to build a healthier, more livable community and addresses the root causes by offering lifestyle and civic programs.
We believe it is our responsibility to our community to spend time and resources on the middle and base of the iceberg, so in the future we can see less and less of the diseases and conditions at the tip of the iceberg. We have found that healthy people lower health-care costs for everyone.
